Road trip from Germany to Ireland

Sorry it has been so long...I am finally connected to the internet!!!

Where to start...

I am now in Ireland, which is everything I had imagined and then some, green green fields and rolling hills filled with sheep and cows, rain, clouds, and the occasional 15 minutes of sunshine :) According to a local, by August the summer is over!

So how we got here...
Lennart found a ride share from Germany to here. Yes, driving to the island of Ireland, there is a ferry involved too.

So we started on a Thursday, and ended up driving the whole east to west border of Germany that day, and ended in Metz, France. France is pretty amazing and I would love to spend more time there. Beautiful streets and buildings, flowers, and people. The food was amazing too, they have a way of using pretty basic ingredients in a way to create combinations of flavors I had never experienced before.

The next day, we made our way through the countryside, it looked like a lot of places in the US, with fields of crops, until we arrived near Paris, and then we hit....Traffic!! Lots of traffic, so we didn't get to go into the city, but we did get to stop in Versailles for lunch, the palace of Versailles to be exact! We brought our own food, then just hung around outside of the palace by the fountain, taking in the scene, the amazing buildings, the people, etc. Unforgettable moment.

After our stop, we continued on to the coastal town of Cherbourg, another lovely town, had dinner there, and then boarded the ferry. It was pretty big..much bigger than Washington ferries I'm used to :), we had reserved seats, which were way more comfortable than airplane seats, (bigger, more leg room, and reclined more), so the 18 hour trip wasn't bad!

                                                     Bon Voyage!

We finally made it to Ireland...but wait..more traveling, an hour on a bus, then 4 on a train, and we finally made it to our destination! Besides not having showered longer than I would have liked in the past 48 hours, and being a little sleep deprived, it was an awesome experience!

Looking forward for all that is to come here in Ireland!
