For all my friends afar

Well….

Sometimes things are tough. Whenever you move to a new place it can be difficult: loneliness, isolation, frustration, and pure confusion. For me, moving alone to a new place in the past has always been about school, meaning meeting and spending a lot of time with like minded people…instant friends basically! Which is awesome, I have met so many of my best friends this way!

It is different this time, seeing that I am done with school, there are no instant friends waiting for me at the end of the road. And it's hard trying to make friends outside of school! Moving far away means being isolated from the people close to you, and trying to integrate into a new culture. Trying to explain old jokes to new people, who end up looking at you like you are crazy! Trying to understand a language that is completely the same as yours but at the same time completely different (again people looking at you like you're crazy!) Searching the whole country for a good salsa dancing location like the ones back home and trying to find curly hair products in a land of mostly straight haired people! AHHH!

I feel like I am settling in well enough here though, I really love my job, and really like all the Irish people that I have met! Most people are very nice and friendly, but I miss some people from home. Those of you who know me well enough, know that although I may appear to have things relatively together, I am very shy, introverted, sensitive, and can be pretty awkward! Which makes it more difficult to meet and open up to people. I miss having people around who understand me and all my quirks. I miss having girl friends around to vent to..or go out for a coffee, run, or late night frozen yogurt trip with!

So this post is for all of you, the ones far away (you all know who you are, probably the only ones reading this!)….I miss you and love you all! Even though we may not have talked recently, know that I am thinking of you! Hopefully we can see each other soon, and thanks for the amazing memories and times, and thank you for your continued friendship and support of me and my dreams! :)
