Quarter year resolutions update
Now that we are just over three months into the year, I wanted to do a progress report on how my resolutions are going. I am really happy that I decided to write them down this year, because I believe it has helped me accomplish so much the first quarter of the year.
So where to start... Here's a quick recap of my resolutions if you don't want to go back to the original post:
"-grow my patient base here in Germany
-take 2-3 new professional courses
-complete my e-book
-continue to improve my communication in relationships
-join a volleyball team
-run a race
-read at least 5 books"
Firstly I started in searching in January for a volleyball team. It took a while, but I am happy to say that I found the perfect mixed team, and finally played in my first game with the team last week! It feels so good to be back out there again playing.
Secondly, books. I have found a nice rhythm at work with reading chiropractic related books in my downtime. Basically since I started new again here in Germany, I have to build up my patient base again, which means, I do have some downtime during the day. So I decided to read as many professional books during that downtime as I can. Since January I have read:
Gonstead chiropractic technique
Pediatric chiropractic and Cranial technique (Martin Rosen)
Well adjusted babies
E-myth chiropractor
The last two are 2nd time reads for me, but I still picked up some useful information from them.
In my spare time at home, I read : The Magical Art of Tidying up. That brings me to 5 books so far this year, which is my goal met... perhaps I aimed too low on my reading goal.
Thirdly, courses. That trip to Barcelona from my last post, was not just a vacation. I spent the day Saturday in a Neurology course. Its a course that I haven't done before, but actually really enjoyed it, and hope to complete the entire series at some point.
Fourthly, my patient base. I have to say, that I am making good progress on that. Every month my number of patient visits improve. Starting a new practice the second time around, is much easier than the first, I can take all the things I learned the first time, and use it. And try not to make the same mistakes. So I am am happy on the progress I have made in just 3 months.
Fifthly, communication. I extended this resolution during Lent, and decided that for Lent I would try be nice as well with my communication. I have gotten angry a couple times, but I have been trying hard to communicate without getting extremely angry, or if I feel myself getting angry, to remove myself from the situation. And say things in a way that are clearer, and more direct. This is a resolution that I think will always need working on.
The last two goals I haven't really touched at all this year. The E-book, has not been opened at all this year... I know... not good. It's one of those things that is so easy for me to put off until later. Or talk myself out of even starting because I think, "who will want to read this anyways". Maybe I was too lofty on this goal.. we will see if I can get back going on this. And the race. I have definitely been exercising again more, and I feel so much better, and happier when I do. But I haven't signed up for anything yet, but that one is still a must do this year.
Overall, I think I have done well for only 3 months into the year. Now I need to try and not settle on where I am, but keep doing things to move forward, so come June, I can post another update about how much more I have done!
