Curly hair products in Europe
One of the things I stocked up on before I moved to Europe was curly hair products. If you have curly hair, you can empathize with me... if not... skip this post and move on to something else!
I started to panic the first time I was getting low on hair products and went to the local drug store, only to find out that there were literally NO products for curly hair. This was in Ireland. After the initial shock, I did the only natural thing... I went online. Sure, I could pay 40-50 bucks to ship my 10 dollar product in from America, but I was hoping to find something local.
The golden product for curly hair is the leave in conditioner, its the thing that helps me tame my sometimes unruly locks and frizz. So this is what I was searching for. In the end after much searching, I came across Lush in Dublin, and their R&B. Yes it was expensive, and for me it was worth it.
Fast forward 3 years. One of the first things I did when we moved here to Germany was looking for a shop for curly hair products. My sister came to visit during the first few weeks that we were here, and somehow, both searching for products, we found an African cosmetic and grocery shop. This place has been a God send for me! Rows of curly hair products, yes ROWS... a lot of the same ones I can get back in the USA, and at a comparable price! Not just leave in conditioners, but normal shampoos and conditioners, specifically for curly hair. And its only 10 minutes away from me, here in Cologne.
Hindsight is always so much clearer... I should have looked up an African shop in Ireland while I was there, but somehow didn't think about it. But that is my suggestion for all those fellow curly hair people out there in Europe, find an African cosmetic shop as close to you as you can, and enjoy the bounty of products!
