Paris in the fall
First off, Happy NEW YEAR! I'm still a bit late on getting all the blogs from our travels last year up here. In October we went to visit a family member who lives in Paris. That was my first trip into the city, we traveled through France on our way to catch a ferry to Ireland in 2013, and stopped in Versailles, but didn't stop in Paris itself.
I think that Paris is one of those cities that is so often portrayed in movies/TV and books, that even for those of us that haven't been there, we have probably seen or heard of many parts of the city before. This can be dangerous when traveling, because it gives you expectations and in reality the city may not how you remember it from the movies, and that might be a let down. And that is exactly how I felt the first day there, but after the initial disappointment compiled with the insane number of tourists, I was able to enjoy the time spent there. I think this city has so much history, and a different story to be told at every corner, it has a very interesting cultural diversity, and excellent food! And while very beautiful, it was also dirty, smelly, and gritty in some parts. It is an interesting mix, a city of contrasts you could say.
We were blessed with 70 (20C) weather in October which was great, plus did I mention the baguettes? They are really good! Basically walking down the street, you could smell your way to a French bakery.. mmmm...so delicious, not sure how people stay so thin in that country!
While not my favorite travel destination so far, it was still a great experience, and a place that I have been looking to tick off my bucket list, one cannot live in Europe and NOT go to Paris! Check out our photos below.
